New for 2011 This classes are situated in the perfect surroundings for those who love working with glass - the premises of Glass from the Past. They are limited to a maxiumum of 8 students so guarantees you extra tutor time.
ENAMELLING FOR BEGINNERS Learn the ancient art of enamelling, that is fusing glass to metal using a tabletop kiln to fire. In this one day course we will complete up to four pieces of enamelled work, which make beautiful jewellery; findings can easily be added to create earrings, necklaces, or even use your work as charms on bracelets.

HANDMADE FELT - FLOWERS AND JEWELLERY
In this session we will use wet felting techniques to create a piece of wet felt that will then be used to make a felted rose - these make a lovely handbag decoration or piece of jewellery. We will then use needle felting techniques to decorate hand felted beads and, if there's time, we'll also create a funky felted bracelet.

Polymer clay (fimo) is a colourful and fun medium for making beads. In this short course, we will make and bake enough beads to enable you to create some really funky jewellery. We'll make jelly roll canes, use inlay techniques and if there's time use sand to create texture.(Full day courses also an option please ask.) Saturday 26th November 10am - 1pm FUNKY FELT
Learn how to make funky felt flowers which can be used to make brooches, hair accessories or even funky, chunky jewellery In this short class, well be using pre-made felt, we'll also cover needle felting to make earrings and if there's time we'll make a funky, chunky bracelet. Friendly plastic does what it says on the tin! Create your design in plastic and then apply heat to mould it together. Its a fun way to create low cost, funky jewellery and beads. Lampwork Beads (in conjunction with Deborah's Beads) ![]()
Come along to my workshop in Colchester and have a one-to-one taster session at making your own glass beads using a hot head torch. All your lovely unique beads will then be annealed for you and delivered to Deborah's Beads for collection. Techniques covered include making a basic bead, creating different shapes and decoration with stringer. Bring a friend for a one-to-two session, share a torch, share laugh, share the cost!

Enamelling for Beginners 14th August This beginners course in fusing glass to metal, starts with the basics, health and safely and then we look at sifting, wet packing and applying media (beads, rods, etc). Polymer clay beads - Bracelet course - 4th September In this one day course, students will make a variety of polymer clay beads which can then be used to make a unique bracelet. Some jewellery making tuition will also be included (attaching findings etc). Enamelling, Metallic Effects 25th September Another course for improvers, we will look at using lustres, copper shim, wet process enamels and students will also have the opportunity to enamel on silver. Encaustic Art (Winter Scenes) 30th October Learn the art of painting with molten wax using an iron. Create vivid pictures - abstract, landscape and fantasy that are great for using in cards. A wonderful medium for any artist and a great medium if you are not sure that you are creative! Enamelling (Make Christmas presents!) 20th November This beginners course in fusing glass to metal, is ideally suited to those that have attended one of my enamelling courses before (however Beginners are welcome). We will use the session to work on individual pieces that will make unique Christmas presents.
