Encaustic WorkI first discovered encaustic art (the art of painting with molten wax, using amongst other things a specially designed iron!) at the NEC in Birmingham and went straight home and ordered myself a kit (via my husband) for Christmas. At first I tinkered with my iron using the Michael Bossom's encaustic books as my guide, then I discovered the Encaustic Art Trainer's Network. I have now been an encaustic trainer since October 2003, after successfully completing the T1 Basic Techniques course. Since then I have run many two-hour beginner's courses, covering such topics as abstracts, building landscapes and exploring encaustic techniques. To find out more about the encaustic lessons I provide click here. My Gallery Above (left to right): Art Nouveau collage (size approx A6). Castle in the Sky - hotplate work (A3). Spooky Castle - using scribing tool to pull out details (A6). Dragon's Homeland - using rubber stamps to add focus (A6).
Above (left to right): Don't go out in that - air blown skies, hotplate and stylus work (A4). By the lake - iron and stylus work (A6). Abstract Flowers - hotplate and air blown (A3).
